Mental Health and Addictions Therapist
Located in beautiful Northwestern Ontario, Red Lake is a vibrant and growing community that is built on gold mining, forestry and tourism. As a member of the multi-disciplinary team at Community Counselling and Addiction Services, the Mental Health and Addictions Therapist provides biopsychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, and out-patient treatment services for adults (18+) experiencing mental health issues and persons 12 years and older with substance abuse and problem gambling issues.
You have clinical experience using recognized and predominant therapies, and you are capable of working with individuals with co-occurring disorders.
You must be able to plan, organize, and manage a caseload with a wide variety of presenting issues and diverse client populations, and you possess strong verbal and written skills.
Formal education in Social Work or Psychology, preferably at a Masters level, with eligibility for registration with an appropriate professional college or association is required. Training in suicide intervention and CISM is an asset.
A vehicle and valid drivers license is required, along with a satisfactory criminal record check. Clinical supervision is provided on-site, and this organization has a strong commitment to on-going professional education. In partnership with Northern Lights Case Management Services, Community Counselling and Addiction Services is accepting applications for a highly motivated professional Case Manager in the community of Red Lake, Ontario.
Case Management is an initiative of Mental Health Reform and is designed to provide a range of services to those living in the community with a serious mental illness.
Knowledge of psychotropic medications and psychiatric disorders is essential. The successful candidate will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, monitor medication and psychiatric symptoms, provide education and supportive counselling to clients and families, advocate, and facilitate the development of daily living and social skills.
The ideal applicant will have experience in working with the seriously mentally ill and have either a nursing background or an undergraduate degree in the human services (BA, BSW). Basic computer skills, a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle are necessary.
